Changes to Port deal won't protect exporters

Victorian Greens leader Greg Barber says minor changes to the deal to sell off the Port of Melbourne won’t protect exporters from increased costs.

"The ACCC have said it would be stupid to do a deal with a private port operator to protect them from a future second port,” Greg Barber said.

"If the Liberals and Nationals vote this bill through, that will come back to bite us.

“The government wants maximum sale price for their re-election war chest, but that’s going to come at the expense of our export competitiveness,” he said.
