GREENS ANNOUNCE ANGELICA DI CAMILLO AS CANDIDATE FOR PRAHRAN

2024-12-02

The Victorian Greens are thrilled to announce Angelica Di Camillo as the candidate for Prahran in the upcoming by-election, as she puts cost of living, housing and climate action on the top of the agenda.

As a young person living in St Kilda East, Angelica says she knows that many people in her electorate of Prahran are struggling with cost of living pressures, housing and they’re worried about the climate.

She says that her community deserves a strong representative that will fight for the issues they care about and be their progressive voice in Parliament to push to freeze and cap rents, for building affordable housing, a clean and safe climate for future generations, and to take on the big supermarkets price gouging.

Angelica Di Camillo is an environmental engineer, who lives in St Kilda East. She was also the former Greens candidate for the federal seat of Higgins before it was announced by the AEC that it would be abolished ahead of the 2025 election.

Greens candidate for Prahran, Angelica Di Camillo says we can’t risk more Liberals who will send us backwards. The Liberals oppose ending native forest logging, testing pills to save lives and taxing property investors who leave homes vacant in a housing crisis.

The Prahran community deserves a progressive voice who will fight for them on the cost of living, housing and climate action.

Quotes attributable to the Greens Leader, Ellen Sandell:

“I am excited to announce Angelica Di Camillo as our candidate for Prahran. My message to the people of Prahran is simple. This by-election, your vote is powerful.

This is a close contest between the Liberals and the Greens, Labor is not running. If you want positive change, we need more independent voices outside the two major parties.“

Quotes attributable to the Greens candidate for Prahran, Angelica Di Camillo:

“As a young person living in St Kilda East, I know our community is struggling. Rent keeps going up, young people have given up on the dream of ever owning a home and they’re worried about the climate.

“There’s a lot at stake for this by-election. This is a contest between the Greens and the Liberals. Labor is not running.

We simply can’t afford more Liberals who will send us backwards on the issues our community cares about. More Liberals means higher rents, making it even harder to buy a home. It means more money for big corporations and less rights for our diverse community.

“That’s not who we are. Prahran is a progressive community and we deserve a progressive voice in Parliament who fights to cap and freeze rents, affordable housing, a clean and safe climate for future generations, and to take on the big supermarkets price gouging.

“Every vote here in Prahran is powerful, and to make sure we have a candidate that actually represents us. To keep the Liberals out, we have to vote Green.”
