The Greens have welcomed a second Victoiran Government Minister expressing support for dying with dignity law reform, and called for MPs from all parties to join a cross-party legislation drafting group.

“The Greens have begun drafting assisted dying laws for Victoria in accordance with the inquiry recommendations. We are calling on members of parliament to join a cross-party working group,” said Colleen Hartland MP, Victorian Greens Spokesperson for Health.

“The Greens will work with all parties to ensure legislation is developed that can pass this parliament.

“Under Victoria’s current laws, people are often forced to suffer needlessly and against their wishes in their last days.

“With community support for dying with dignity reforms at an all-time high, now is the time for leadership and action from all Victorian MPs,” said Ms Hartland.
