Greens push for inquiry into V/line failures

2016-01-20

Victorian Greens leader Greg Barber says he will push for a parliamentary inquiry into the V/line rail debacle.

“This is a major meltdown. Now Metro and V/line are pointing fingers at each other so let's see them explain themselves before a parliamentary inquiry,” Greg Barber said.

“It's not beyond the ability of rail managers to anticipate these issues and deal with them before they lead to cancellations. When you are running a rail system that tens of thousands of people depend on, there is no excuse for preventable problems to cripple the network.

"We will write to the parliament’s upper house Economy and Infrastructure Committee and ask them to call V/line and Metro’s management before an inquiry,” he said.
