Greens Families and Children spokesperson Nina Springle has written to the Commissioner for Children and Young People requesting he formally advise the parliament about the dangers of allowing children to spectate cage fights.
“I’ve asked Commissioner Geary to offer his expertise to the parliament,” Nina Springle said.
“A number of experts in child trauma have expressed concern that children will be allowed to attend cage fights.
“To date the government has ignored this advice, but hopefully they’ll see sense when this advice comes from Victoria’s Commissioner for Children and Young People.
“This brutal blood sport is no place for children,” she said.
