Infrastructure Australia releases assessment list, Melbourne Metro goes AWOL
Infrastructure Australia (IA) has named 11 of 14 projects that have been submitted for assessment. IA has confirmed that the Melbourne Metro Rail Tunnel is not in the remaining three projects, meaning the Victorian Labor government has not submitted the project for assessment.
“We thought Victorians were being punished for ditching East West Link, we just didn’t expect the culprit to be Daniel Andrews,” said Senator Rice.
“With one solitary project being assessed out of a total of 14, Victorians have every right to be angry.”
The revelations highlight that there is no public transport project for Victoria on IA’s books. The Greens have urged the Victorian governments fully commit to public transport projects for the state.
“The one project being assessed is a toll road, doing nothing for Victorians want the choice of catching public transport that isn’t overcrowded, late or cancelled,” said Senator Rice.
“Premier Andrews needs to stop simply talking about Melbourne Metro, finish the planning and request federal funding.”
