Greens Eastern Metropolitan MP Samantha Dunn says Melbourne’s rating as the world’s most liveable city isn’t reflected across the suburbs.
“This title might reflect the inner-city, but ignores the day-to-day experience of people living in the suburbs,” Samantha Dunn said.
“Traffic is gridlocked and public transport is overflowing, where it exists at all.
“Housing is unaffordable. More and more people are couch surfing or sleeping on the streets.
“The government’s tone-deaf celebration is a big part of why people hate politicians. Instead of crowing over this nonsense award, it’s time to do the work required to make our suburbs liveable,” she said.
