Victorian Greens health spokesperson Colleen Hartland says Dan Andrews' opposition to a trial of pill testing will keep lives at risk.
"We have been telling people for decades not to take drugs and it hasn't worked,” Ms Hartland said.
“Australia is the biggest drug taking nation in the world. Get real Premier Andrews. Put lives before ideology.
"Dan Andrews is behind the times on this. Preaching abstinence and 'sending a message' via drug use being illegal is clearly not working. We need a change of approach.
"He must be praying that nobody is harmed by drugs at festivals, given he has single-handedly blocked this trial.
"The Greens support criminal penalties against manufacturers and dealers of drugs. But when it comes to young people experimenting with drugs, we think the most important thing is saving lives and delivering addiction support," said Ms Hartland.
