Suspend Crown’s pokie machines immediately: Greens

2017-10-18

Victorian Greens gambling spokesperson Colleen Hartland says Crown Casino’s pokie machines need to be immediately suspended from trade while an independent audit is undertaken, following allegations that they’ve been illegally tampered with.

The Greens will also write to the Victorian Ombudsman requesting an investigation into the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation, who have responsibility for regulating pokie machines.

Gambling is regulated by the Victoria’s state Labor government, who took political donations from Crown Casino prior to the last election.

“These are serious offences and the state government needs to act,” Colleen Hartland said.

“Crown cannot be allowed to operate pokie machines until an independent audit has been completed.

“We know Crown Casino donated to Dan Andrews before the last election, but he can’t let them get away with this,” she said.
