Vicforests is an economic dud: Greens

2016-10-27

Greens forests spokesperson Samantha Dunn says VicForests new annual report shows the Government owned logging company is an economic dud.

“VicForests cash flow is declining while their costs are growing,” Samantha Dunn said.

“They are destroying Victoria’s native forests and barely breaking even. These trees are worth more standing for tourism, carbon storage and biodiversity.

"We have always known logging native forests makes no sense environmentally, and this is further proof it makes no sense financially.

"Plantations are the only way forward. Even the CEO of VicForests recognises this - he resigned earlier this month to take up a role in plantation forestry in New Zealand,” Samantha Dunn said.
