Victorian Greens statement on a respectful party culture

2017-08-14

The Victorian Greens would like to reaffirm our commitment to a respectful party culture, and make it clear that we do not tolerate sexual harassment in any form.

In line with section 18 of the party’s bylaws, which all Victorian Greens members agree to abide by, we recognise that all of us have a responsibility to ensure that sexual harassment does not occur.

As a party, all reports of sexual harassment will be dealt with promptly, seriously, and confidentially. And complainants have the right to determine how their complaints will be treated.

Right now, the Victorian Greens are working with members to improve reporting and training processes to be more accessible, responsive, and meaningful. We will be prioritising an approach that focuses on preventative measures through education, whilst also ensuring a transparent and fair process that works to the advantage of everyone involved and prioritises the well being and justice of the victim.

Please contact the Victorian Greens State Director, Clare Quinn, with any queries or for a confidential discussion.
