We are not the 1% - PT users dudded by Turnbull
Victorians who want the choice of safe, fast and reliable public transport have been sold out by the Coalition’s transport announcement today, say the Greens.
"The Prime Minister might like taking selfies on trains, but it's clear that nothing has changed since Tony Abbott's road addiction was inflicted on Victoria," said the Greens transport spokesperson Senator Janet Rice.
"Of the $1.5 billion of Victorian infrastructure projects that the Turnbull government has announced, less than 1 per cent has been allocated to commuter public transport.
"Adding more lanes and building more roads to fix congestion is like loosening your belt to cure obesity.
"This will do nothing to ease the long-term traffic congestion that Melbourne commuters are stuck in.
"The only game changer for traffic congestion in Melbourne is investing in public transport to make it easier, safer and quicker for Victorians to catch trains, trams and buses."
