Asbestos dumped in Cairnlea

2016-11-09

Constituency question: My question is for Minister D'Ambrosio and is on issues relating to the environment. Last month the historic Corkman Irish Pub was illegally demolished, and asbestos from the site was found in Melbourne's western suburbs, in Cairnlea, at a site that is in fact residential, with houses about 20 metres from the site. Can the minister explain why it took the Environment Protection Authority so long to clean up the asbestos at the Cairnlea site, particularly considering the close proximity to homes?
