Constituency Question - Lakewood Community Co-operative Housing

2016-04-13

My constituency question is for the Minister of Housing. It relates to concerns from residents of the Lakewood Community Managed Co-operative based in Larissa Ave, Ringwood. A number of maintenance issues have been identified in the building and a number of residents have been given notification that they are to vacate the premises and take up private housing. While some offers of financial assistance have been received, many residents are feeling anxious about the prospect of moving. I ask the Minister: 1. Will you provide counselling and consultation support to residents concerned about the renovations? 2. What financial support is the Minister providing to residents of Lakewood who are required to move to ensure they are not financially burdened? 3. When is it expected residents will again be able to move back in to the residence? Answer:

I am advised that:

Common Equity Housing Ltf (CEHL) is a registered housing association, which owns and manages the building occupied by Lakewood Community Managed Co-operative in Ringwood.

The issues raised ar a matter for CEHL to arrange.  At this stage I have received no request for additional support from CEHL to acquit its responsibilities in providing support to the residents.

I am advised CEHL has engaged extra staff and is approaching the relocation task in a supportive way to minimise any negative impact on residents.
