Truck danger in Footscray

2016-11-08

Constituency question: My question is for the Minister for Agriculture, Ms Pulford, in her capacity of representing the Minister for Roads and Road Safety, Mr Donnellan. Yesterday a large container truck hit the Napier Street rail bridge in Footscray. As a result the container fell off the back of the truck and onto the adjacent bike lane and footpath. It is a miracle that nobody was killed. This is not the first time, and it will not be the last accident of its kind. People in Footscray should be able to walk and cycle without fear of being killed or seriously injured by a container truck. My question is: can the minister explain what action is being taken to prevent this kind of accident happening yet again?
