Statement from Australian Greens Victoria Co-Convenors

Last year, after receiving multiple complaints, the Misconduct Panel of the Australian Greens Victoria found that Nina Vallins “breached the Code of Conduct clauses 3 (b) - Bringing the AGV into disrepute; and 3 (e) - Vilification of members and volunteers of the AGV on the basis of their gender identity”.

The State Council of the Australian Greens Victoria considered the matter and resolved by consensus that Nina Vallins be suspended from the party for a period of six months, ending in April 2021. This sanction is the strongest that has been handed down since the AGV reformed our Misconduct processes in 2019.

The Australian Greens Victoria has an ongoing commitment to better supporting our trans, gender diverse, and non-binary members, and will continue to advocate strongly with and for the trans community in parliament.

Our party has long joined calls from LGBTQA+ survivors for the state government to exercise its power to stamp out dangerous and discriminatory sexuality and gender identity conversion practices. We are looking forward to this overdue reform becoming law this week.
