Hi, I'm Alida

Hello, I’m Alida McKern, your councillor for Banyule Council-Chelsworth Ward.

I’m a Landscape Architect and Urban Planner. Ive lived, worked and raised my family in Ivanhoe for more than 20 years. I love our people and place.  As your Councillor, I have served as Deputy Mayor, and have met with many of you, listening and advocating on your concerns and aspirations for Banyule. 

In the past 4 years on Council, I have used my professional skills and experience to support priorities for a leafy, locally connected, safe and prosperous Ivanhoe.

Residents continue to tell me they want:  

• Better design & diversity of housing developments
• Protection & enhancement of our trees, parks and waterways
• Giving local people a more effective voice on the shape of Ivanhoe’s future with more community led decision-making.
• Initiatives to stimulate local business -including enhancement of our shopping strips
• Reducing rate rises and demanding effective council budgeting to maintain the quality and diversity of services Ivanhoe residents expect.

My focus on local neighbourhoods, parks, community engagement, local economy, and service delivery will be informed by the urgent need for action on climate change to sustain Banyule’s most liveable community into the future.

As your local representative, I would be honoured to continue my commitment to support the qualities that make Ivanhoe a great place to live.
