Hi, I'm Bernadette Thomas
I’m a Yarraville local, community advocate and current Councillor of the city of Maribyrnong.
As a Councillor I’ve focused on empowering and enabling the community to have a say in the decisions that are made about our local area. I have worked with the community to declare a health emergency, for quality open space, supported our LGBTQIA+ community, acted on pollution issues, and advocated for safer streets for people who walk and ride bikes.
I’m a trusted, active, and effective community leader; working collaboratively with the community and colleagues from across the political spectrum to negotiate positive community outcomes.
As your councillor for Sheoak ward, I will continue to work towards making our neighbourhoods thrive, for a Low Emissions Zone to reduce air pollution, to take action to reduce our contribution to climate change, and reduce harm from gambling.
