Rachel Busbridge

Candidate for Eltham

This is an image of Rachel, she's smiling warmly at the camera. She has shoulder-length, light brown hair with bangs and stands in an inner city streetscape.

I’m an Eltham local, university lecturer and environmental advocate who made this community home in 2019. Like so many people here, I was drawn to Eltham’s strong community spirit and its unique natural environment – and living here has strengthened my commitment to protecting both.

As a sociology lecturer and a union advocate for staff and students, I understand how government decisions shape people’s everyday lives. After decades of Labor representation, Eltham is ready for a progressive alternative that puts integrity, evidence and community first.

I will fight for strong, practical climate action – protecting our tree canopy and biodiversity, and preparing our community for increasing bushfire risk. I will also advocate for proper investment in public transport, schools, healthcare and active transport so Eltham can thrive as it grows. Our community deserves representation that listens, acts with integrity, and works alongside residents to build a fairer, more sustainable future.
