Rhonda Garad

Federal Candidate for Bruce

Hi, I'm Rhonda.

I've proudly called Dandenong home for 30 years, raising my four children in this wonderful community. I'm an academic at Monash University and a Councillor for Greater Dandenong. I have a proven track record of getting things done and I'll work hard to achieve the outcomes that matter to you.

If you’re worried about the cost of rent, mortgages or food, you’re not alone. I understand the challenges of paying bills, running a small business, and providing for your family in our community right now.

I’m sick of watching our community being ripped off by big corporations making massive profits. Unlike the major parties, the Greens don’t take corporate donations. I’m committed to fighting for outcomes for everyday people.

We can’t keep voting for the same two parties and expecting a different result.

The Greens are fighting for cheaper groceries, a rent freeze, to stop the interest rate increases and deliver low rate mortgages.

We want to make big corporations pay their fair share of tax and fund things we all need, like dental and mental health into Medicare and make sure you can see the GP for free.

In a wealthy country like ours, everyone should be able to afford the basics and governments should actually solve the problems we face – the housing, cost of living and climate crisis.

This election, don’t let the major parties take your vote for granted. Nothing changes, if nothing changes.

If you want change, you have to vote for it.

This time, Vote 1 Greens.

As your Councillor for Greater Dandenong City Council - Cleedland Ward

Hi, I'm Rhonda. I'm an academic at Monash University and have served as a councillor in the City of Greater Dandenong since 2020. I'm committed to listening to our community and taking action together on improving local infrastructure, public safety, enhancing green spaces, and fostering strong community connections.

Cleeland Ward, as part of a rapidly developing area, faces challenges with outdated infrastructure and insufficient community services that need urgent attention. I am dedicated to enhancing our footpaths and street lighting, establishing a community hub for high-quality child care and improved community connection, and revitalising the Dandenong Market to ensure it provides affordable, high-quality goods.

Furthermore, I am committed to continuing to be a strong voice for Cleeland Ward, focusing on protecting and enhancing our green spaces, which are vital for our health and well-being. A key strength of our area is its rich diversity, and I am committed to ensuring that our diverse community is not only represented but also actively celebrated and integrated into the fabric of our local governance. This commitment involves promoting inclusivity in all council initiatives and ensuring that our diverse voices are heard and respected in decision-making processes.
