Rochelle Hine

Federal candidate for Gippsland

Hi, I'm Rochelle.

I’m a senior lecturer in rural and mental health and have spent most of my  life living in rural Victoria, including Gippsland since 2020. My decades of work experience in public health and education have equipped me to represent the needs of rural families and communities.

I’ve held various community and leadership positions, including as a board member of a family violence service, school council president and leader of community groups.

I am a foster carer and a parent representative on the school council at my son’s secondary college. As a single mother, I am familiar with the cost-of-living crisis and the need for high quality, accessible public healthcare, housing, education and transport for all.

Both Labor and the coalition are failing us. They take millions of dollars in donations from corporations and put their corporate mates before you. Because the Greens don’t, we can and will fight for you, implementing policies that benefit the community rather than corporate interests.

We want to make big corporations pay their fair share of tax so we can fund things we all need, like dental and mental health into Medicare, government-built homes to rent and buy, cheaper mortgages, 50 cent public transport fares, a rent freeze and a cap on grocery prices.

In a wealthy country like ours, everyone should be able to afford the basics and governments should actually solve the problems we face.

The electorate of Gippsland knows they deserve more, and I am ready to demand it. If you want change, it’s time to vote for it.
