All Victorians have the right to live without fear of racial violence, abuse and discrimination.
Racism is a wicked problem that causes direct harm to First Nations people and communities of colour. With the rise of One Nation and the far-right, it is more important now than ever to stand united against division and hate.
Racism must be tackled at its roots and be grounded in justice and truth telling.
First Nations people and culturally diverse communities should be empowered to thrive and flourish and an anti-racist Victoria is how we can do it together.

- Mandatory diversity data collection in public sector organisations

We know racism and discrimination is a barrier to progression and participation in the workforce.
By making diversity data collection within public sector organisations the law, we will be able to identify imbalances.
Public sector organisations are already required to monitor gender data collection to improve gender equality. This should be extended to racial diversity data collected to make sure our public sector is truly representative not just in the workforce but also in leadership roles.
- Improve data on the people police interact with

The Racial Profiling Data Monitoring Project has found that people perceived to be Aboriginal, African, Middle Eastern or Pacific Islander are far more likely to be searched by police than people perceived to be white. But their data is preliminary, because police don’t always follow data collection requirements, and don’t publish their data.
The Greens will require police to improve data collection on racial appearance, and to publish it.
- Anti-racism education in schools

The Greens will investigate embedding anti-racism, social cohesion and inclusion programs in the curriculum for all Victorian schools.
Early intervention is important in confronting narrow and racist ideologies and school is an appropriate place to engage young people, as well as teachers and staff.
- Support for people targeted by racism

The Greens want to see more programs that provide intentional, culturally safe and trauma informed support for people targeted by racialised abuse.
- Fair treatment for migrant workers

The Greens will advocate for enforcement of workers rights for migrants and improved data collection of fair working conditions and pay.
