Banyule Councillor Alida McKern has decided to leave the Victorian Greens and continue her role as an independent.
A spokesperson from the Victorian Greens said:
"Alida has been a valued member of the Greens for many years, working hard to advocate for her residents. We want to thank her for her work.
‘We part on good terms. We will always respect the personal decisions people take on how they want to pursue their politics. We wish Alida well as an independent."
Alida McKern commented:
“For some time I have been considering serving my community as an independent.
That said, I’d like to thank the Victorian Greens for their support over the past six years.
I want to reassure my local community that the priorities you elected me on—planning, environment and community engagement, will hold strong, and I will continue to advocate for our community’s needs and concerns."
