The Greens' plan to support volunteers
Volunteers make a huge contribution to our society. They sit with kids learning to read, band together when disasters hit, run everything from community buses to whole festivals, and push for change. They knit our social fabric together.
But volunteers don’t just come out of nowhere. Volunteering organisations encourage people to step up for their communities, connect them to volunteer roles and nurture them on their volunteering journey.
The Greens' plan to support volunteering includes:
- Calling for adequate resourcing of the Victorian Volunteer Strategy.
- Expanding funding for Victoria’s SES to ensure we can address increasing climate disasters including floods, storms and fires.
- Providing $5 million to help Volunteer Support Organisations and Volunteering Victoria to support volunteers.
