Play is vital for children to develop and increase their language and early literacy skills, as well as their social and emotional wellbeing, self-regulation and resilience. But as the cost of living rises, simple things like buying age appropriate quality toys for children out of reach for too many Victorian families.
Toy libraries allow families to access a wide range of quality toys, and are important community spaces where families can meet, learn and play together. They also play a key role in the circular economy by offering an environmentally sustainable alternative for parents who are consciously trying to reduce waste.
The Greens will commit $5.34m to support Victoria's 120 toy libraries.
