Jordon Steele-John’s June Update

WE DID IT! We’ve retained the Senate seat for our Green movement here in WA! And what a campaign it was…

By Senator Jordon Steele-John

We knocked on over 60,000 doors, made over 25,000 phone calls, raised hundreds of thousands of dollars from more than 1,000 individual donors and had help from our 2,000 incredible volunteers. It’s safe to say it’s one of the biggest campaigns we’ve ever run in WA and we were able to get our message out to so many new voters in so many new ways – especially online – which ultimately meant we got a primary vote in the Senate of almost 12 per cent.

I want to take this opportunity to thank every single person who contributed to our campaign – whether you knocked on doors, made phone calls, donated, or simply voted and told your friends and family you were voting Green. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Scott Morrison’s Coalition government may have been sworn back in for another term but so was every representative of our movement! I’m filled with hope and energy at the opportunity this presents our movement. We’ve already achieved amazing things and I know that we will continue the fight to get corporate influence out of our democracy, address growing economic inequality and take genuine action on climate change together over the next 6 years.

I’m excited because together, we are powerful. Together, we’ve proven that you don’t need big corporate money to run big community campaigns. Together, we will win!
