WA Labor recently announced their plan to destroy Burswood Park by building a noisy motorsport street circuit costing more than $200m.
Burswood Park is a Class C Reserve with 56 hectares of parks, gardens and heritage trails on the Swan River foreshore.
WA Labor has ignored the calls of Western Australians to address the skyrocketing cost of living, housing crisis and the failure of the WA health system, insisting that they are doing all they can with the funds and workforce available.
Instead of the action that WA so desperately needs, WA Labor has proposed the replacement of the popular Burswood Park with a noisy motorsport precinct. The WA Labor government is prioritising the interests of the profits of big business, including nearby Crown Casino over the people of Swan.
The street circuit was rejected by the Town of Victoria Park in a motion on Tuesday night.
The Greens commit to saving Burswood Park, for the good of the environment and the community.

“This proposed motorsports facility would cost more than double what WA Labor has promised to upgrade Royal Perth Hospital, and eight times what they have pledged for new women’s refuges.”
“WA Labor’s priorities are wrong. While ordinary Western Australians are struggling to keep a roof over their head, and food on their table, they want to spend over $200 million on a noisy, polluting motorplex that nobody asked for.”
“The Greens are listening to the community, and they are calling to Save Burswood Park and invest the proposed funding where it’s needed.”

“WA Labor has announced these plans for a motorplex at Burswood Park without any community consultation.”
“Burswood Park is not just a green space, it is home to an array of native flora and fauna, with more than 250,000 people visiting every year to enjoy the river and parklands.”
“Building this motor complex will destroy habitats that we have worked hard to establish and protect. It will increase noise pollution, traffic congestion, and diminish the quality of life for local residents.”
“Not only will this proposed motorplex destroy the surrounding parklands and habitats, but it flies in the face of climate responsibility, prioritising polluting industries over community and environmental health.”
“Since WA Labor’s announcement, I’ve heard from many concerned community members, and I join their calls to save Burswood Park. We must protect our public green spaces—not pave over them for private gain.”
