The Australian Greens condemn an alleged white supremacist themed Australia Day party in Kalgoorlie WA that purportedly used Nazi flags whilst referring to January 26 as ‘victory day’.
“This is clear cut racism and I trust that local police will fully investigate and take seriously the pictures circulating on social media”, Australian Greens Senator Rachel Siewert said today.
“Unfortunately this is an example of racism that our First Peoples still have to deal with. That it allegedly occurred on Australia Day would have made an already difficult day for many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples even worse.
“I condemn this sort of sharing on social media and allegedly referring to January 26 as ‘victory day’”.
