Will the Barnett Government's proposed new biodiversity conservation laws stop the heartbreaking extinction rate of Western Australia's unique flora and fauna? The Greens stand up for the environment, wildlife and plants every chance we get, so I enjoyed a rare opportunity to kick off the debate on proposed laws to protect WA's unique biodiversity hotspot this week. It's taken 30 years for any WA Government to introduce a Bill. The Greens have introduced 3 private member's bills in that time but each one has failed to get enough support. To pique Members' interest I brought in some cute reminders of what we're fighting for. This quick video provides a snapshot of the speech I gave in Parliament on the bill.
