Failure to act on climate change is intergenerational theft: Steele-John

Greens youth spokesperson Senator Jordon Steele-John said today that there was no greater intergenerational theft than the Turnbull government’s failure to take action on climate change.

“The Turnbull government appears to be content to sit back and watch climate change rob young people of their future, whilst simultaneously passing up on the opportunity for Australia to reap the benefits of the world’s third great industrial revolution,” Steele-John said.

“The government are simply too afraid to confront the big business interests that continue to blatantly throw money at their party.

“If the government really cared about creating jobs – especially highly skilled manufacturing jobs – then they would support the Greens in driving the transition to a renewable energy future.

“I will not idly sit by while a majority of members in this place systematically destroy the planet upon which my generation must try to survive.”
