Greens disagree with findings in RSPCA majority report

After a year’s long enquiry, the Parliamentary Select Committee into the operations of the RSPCA has today delivered its findings to the Upper House, Greens MLC and committee member Lynn MacLaren said.
“It’s long been our view that the inquiry was established by the ‘Shooters’ member and the Liberal-National Government to denigrate the functions of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.”
“When the RSPCA highlighted the failure to properly manage animal welfare in live exports and greyhound racing, clearly vested interests were upset.
“The committee spent a year of too-ing and fro-ing to come up with a set of half-baked recommendations which clearly weren’t supported by our minority report.
 “This inquiry merely sought from its outset to establish whether the RSPCA were overstepping the charter given to them under Royal prerogative to protect animals.
