Greens WA Member of Parliament, Robin Chapple welcomes the Joint Select Committee on End of Life Choices to be established on this very important issue.

“It is long overdue that legalisation is brought in to allow the terminally ill access to dying with dignity,” said Mr Chapple.

“Recently I had been working with Alannah MacTiernan and Tony Simpson and meeting with lawyers, doctors and activists to ensure West Australians with terminal illnesses have the choice to end their pain, a choice available to increasing numbers of people around the world.

“I had introduce legislation on Voluntary Euthanasia in 2002 and 2010, with the first Private Member’s Bill lapsing and the second bill voted down.

“I would welcome being on the Select Committee to ensure that we can utilise the very good work that has been done in other states to make sure we have a safe, effective regime to put before the West Australian Parliament,” Mr Chapple added.
