I welcome the Government’s response to the Senate Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee's inquiry into Suicide by Veterans, Senator Rachel Siewert said today.
“The evidence we heard at the inquiry was harrowing and clearly showed that more needed to be done, we need to do much better for our veterans and ex-service personnel.
“I am glad that the Government has responded quickly agreeing to 22 of the Committee's 24 recommendations and committing to funding increases. They have agreed in principle to the Committee's other 2 recommendations and undertaking further work on these recommendations.
“I look forward to seeing the Government implement their commitments as soon as possible."
