Greens welcome Labor jumping on board with Indigenous Rangers program

2016-05-27

“I welcome the Labor party following the Australian Greens’ lead in committing to expand funding for the Indigenous Rangers program”, Australian Greens Senator Rachel Siewert said today.
“In April I wrote to the Prime Minister urging the Government to double funding for the important program whilst expanding funding commitments for the program to 15 years.
“I welcome the doubling of indigenous rangers over five years proposed by Labor, it is a step in the right direction. I urge the ALP to bolster this announcement with a commitment to fund the program for 15 years.
“As part of Reconciliation Week in the coming days the Greens will be releasing an extensive policy announcement that aims to address Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples disadvantage whilst furthering reconciliation. I look forward to revealing it in the coming days”.
