“Home is Heritage” – upholding the rights of remote communities

2015-11-25

Did you realise that this time last year, the WA Government had just announced the closure of remote communities?

Although Colin Barnett has since said he will not outright close communities, the real risk remains that services could be cut – leaving families with no choice but to move out and deal with significant trauma and loss as a result.

If the Government really wants to help residents of remote communities, it should fund the services that people need in the locations that they need them – not force people to move their families away from their traditional lands, which are proven to have a positive impact on their physical and mental health.

SOS Blak Australia ( https://www.facebook.com/sosblakaustralia ) are hosting nationwide rallies on Friday, 27th November to protest the Government’s agenda.

The Perth rally will be held at 5.30pm at Forrest Chase in Perth CBD.
