Greens MLC Lynn MacLaren has today joined protestors at Malvolio Road in Coolbellup, as crashed through the quenda-rich bushland between North Lake Road and Malvolio Road in Coolbellup, six days before Christmas.
Ms MacLaren said she was alarmed to learn clearing had begun in the days before Christmas and voiced concerns for any animals and birds which may become trapped or receive injuries.
“The destruction of one of our most precious places begun this morning,” Ms MacLaren said.
“At one point the fence was pulled down and dozens sat on it as a symbolic step to disrupt the clearing.”
Ms MacLaren urged the Barnett Government to put an immediate stay on clearing works, pending the result of the March election.
