Rare king jarrah felled by Main Roads was listed ‘Conservation Significant’

Greens MLC Lynn MacLaren MLC has blasted Main Roads for reckless destruction of the environment after confirming that a rare king jarrah destroyed on Main Roads land in Coolbellup last month was listed as ‘Conservation Significant’ because it provided habitat for endangered black cockatoos.
“A fauna survey prepared as part of the Roe 8 Public Environment Review identified this tree in 2011 as  ‘Conservation Significant’ because of its size, height and the fact it had more than five hollows, which Carnaby’s and red-tailed forest black cockatoos could use for nesting,” Ms MacLaren said.
