South Metropolitan Greens MLC Lynn MacLaren has called on the Government to scrap any plans to sign contracts for the Roe 8 project, pending the result of a bid for a new High Court appeal by Save Beeliar Wetlands.
“There are now two active court cases against the project.
“The findings in the case appealing the approval under the Aboriginal Heritage Act is expected to be delivered any day.
“It is obvious that the Government should wait for the result of both cases.
“Any other course of action would be extremely reckless at this time.
“The fact is the Government has a massive fight on its hands with or without these legal challenges.
“We won’t rest until the plan to build Roe 8 is thrown out indefinitely.”
