It's well past time the Prime Minister put a stop to Tony Abbott's extremist rhetoric, the Australian Greens said today.
"Tony Abbott's latest outburst is destructive and counterproductive, and should no longer be indulged by the Liberal Party," Australian Greens Acting Leader Scott Ludlam said today.
"Perhaps this is Mr Abbott's way of putting his name forward as Ambassador to the USA under would-be President Trump.
"The USA is experiencing the ramifications of a Conservative party failing to reign in its extreme fringes. The Liberal Party here must learn those lessons, and quickly.
"One Donald Trump on the other side of the planet fuelling fear and hatred is already too much. We don't need our own carbon (polluting) copy," said Senator Ludlam.
