Hi, I'm Heidi – your Greens candidate for Cottesloe in the upcoming state election.
I’m a full-time conservation volunteer, a mum of two boys and I’m proud to call Cottesloe home. I grew up on the prairies in Canada and was the first person in our family to attend university, earning a degree in geological engineering. I worked as a petroleum engineer, then completed a master’s degree in the biological sciences before we called Australia home.
I moved to Cottesloe with my husband and kids in 2006, the same year I decided to dedicate my life to nature conservation. This decision resulted in me leading the Friends of Lake Claremont from 2007 to 2018, and I am still highly involved with what has become one of the largest and most successful urban restoration projects in Australia.
Since moving to Australia, and seeing the beauty of this country, I have also learned that we are not doing enough to protect what we are so lucky to have.
Our climate is changing, threatening the places we love. Inequality in health, wealth and education is steadily growing, robbing many of the opportunity to be happy and successful. Housing is out of reach for many, and the cost of living is skyrocketing.
The major parties are increasingly sacrificing the interests of the people, local businesses and the environment to the benefit of big corporations and vested interests.
Only the Greens have a plan for a resilient future for all of us. It’s time to put the interests of people and the environment – on which we all depend – first.
Vote 1 Greens.
