Hi! I’m Rhi Davies. I’m an active community organiser, defence spouse of many years, and a local mum of three teenagers. Like so many mums, I am navigating the NDIS and rapidly emerging technology – I know the worries that parents are facing. I have watched as so many people in Secret Harbour are struggling with housing and cost of living crises. I’ve watched as both the Liberals and Labor have tied our future more and more closely to Trump’s war machine through dodgy AUKUS deals, putting defence families like ours a Tweet away from being drawn into another war. I am sick of watching the major parties ignore everyday people, and I want to do something about it.
I’m no career politician. Currently I work in a local business in the fitness industry, but I’ve also spent time working in retail connecting with our community, in administration managing complex workloads, and in manual labour, which built my resilience and proved that we can thrive in challenging spaces. When I am not working, I am passionate about health, wellness, and self-learning permaculture principles in my fruit and vegetable gardens. I believe in the power of the "village" and am dedicated to creating spaces for neighbours to gather, connect, and support one another.
I am running for Secret Harbour because our community is facing a critical turning point. The cost-of-living and housing crises are putting local families into enormous stress. The average renter in Secret Harbour is spending over 30% of their income on rent and house prices here have doubled in the past year while, the average home costs a massive eight times the average household income. Yet as families are living in cars and tents, WA Labor have failed to address the housing crisis, while the Liberals and One Nation distract us with culture wars.
Then there’s the climate. While we face down an irreversible climate crisis, Labor are running a literal Woodside candidate, while One Nation and the Liberal Party want to send us back to the coal age. The major parties are prioritising billionaire donors, gas companies and the US war machine over everyday West Australians.
The people of Secret Harbour deserve better than what the major parties have to offer.
We want:
- Rents capped to give struggling families immediate relief.
- Housing built for local residents rather than prioritising US AUKUS workers.
- Cheap, clean energy delivered by a rapid transition to renewables.
- To stop AUKUS & Westport and protect Cockburn Sound.
Only The Greens are ready to stand up and fight for the people of Secret Harbour. Let's stand together and vote for a future we can believe in.
