Andrew Kidd

Candidate for Moggill

Hi, my name is Andrew Kidd, and I am proud to be your Greens candidate for Moggill in the upcoming state election.

I’ve been living in the area with my family for over a decade, and I love our community and local environment more every day. I’m an active volunteer in my daughters’ education and sports clubs, and I enjoy taking our greyhound out to the many beautiful local parks.

I’m running to be your state representative because the two-party system is broken and politics as usual is not serving the interests of everyone. Our community deserves to feel optimistic about our future, but the major parties are only offering more of the same.

As a teacher in a state high school, I see young Queenslanders every day. The next generations deserve a fair and equal society, and a safe natural environment. It concerns me when young people are labeled as the problem, as the climate and housing crises are passed on as their burden to bear.

A strong education system is key to a prosperous and coherent society but Queensland public schools are not funded to even the minimum standard. As I see first-hand, teachers are under-resourced and schools are under-staffed. Students are missing out on billions of dollars in support across the state, and parents are footing the bill.

Families on the westside have been asking for another high school for years, and we have been listening. I will fight for a fully-funded state high school in our electorate, and stand up for students and teachers in all the schools of Moggill.

Cost of living and lack of affordable housing are impacting people regardless of age, income and education. Banks and supermarkets are making record profits, further pushing up inflation. The Greens don’t take donations from big corporations, which means as your MP, I’d be focused on representing you, not vested interests.

I look forward to working with the people of Moggill in creating thriving communities and protecting the incredible natural environment that is on our doorstep and beyond.

Future generations are depending on us.
