Tamica Matson

Candidate for Hasluck

Hi, I’m Tamica! I’m a working mum, a long-term local, and I’m excited to be your Greens candidate for the Federal seat of Hasluck.

Despite working hard to climb my way up the career ladder, I still find myself just scraping by as I struggle to keep up with massive rent increases and constantly rising supermarket prices. And I’m not alone: all over Hasluck, people are suffering as a result of the cost of living and housing crises.

In a country as wealthy as Australia, the only reason so many of us are in that position is because the major parties have chosen to let it happen. I’m proud that the Greens are offering real solutions to these crises: ones that prioritise the needs of the community, not the profits of corporate donors.

The Greens are also the only party with a plan to put mental health into Medicare, and address the need for more psychologists and psychiatrists across the country. With proper investment into mental health services, I firmly believe we could solve or meaningfully address so many of our community’s most urgent crises, like homelessness and the violence epidemic.

The major parties try to tell us that fixing these issue is too expensive or that it can’t be done, but we absolutely have the means to make sure everyone has access to the services we need to live a good life. The only reason so many people in our community are left to go without is a lack of political will.

It doesn’t have to be this way. This election, we have a real opportunity to get more Greens into parliament to push the government further and faster on these issues – as well as so many others recent governments have failed to act on, like the climate crisis.

A better future in Hasluck is possible – but we can only achieve it together.

So if you want change, make sure you vote for it!
