Ellen Sandell

Deputy Leader of the Victorian Greens, State Member for Melbourne

I love Melbourne and our shared commitment to diversity and fairness.

I was first elected to Parliament in 2014, and was re-elected in the 2018 and 2022 state election. I am the Deputy Leader of the Victorian Greens and Manager of Parliamentary Business. I'm also spokesperson for:

  • Climate Change and Emissions
  • Biodiversity, Environment and Forests
  • Gas and Resources
  • Emergency Services
  • Emergency Services and Climate
  • Disaster Preparedness

Growing up in country Victoria, it was impossible not to form a strong bond with our environment. I trained as a scientist, and have worked hard for social justice all my adult life.

I know how important it is to take action on climate change. Before becoming an MP, I was the CEO of a national climate change non-profit organisation. I am proud to represent a party that is fighting for a clean economy, and to make Victoria 100% powered by renewable energy by 2030.
