Callum Bugbird

Candidate for Glen Eira City Council - Murrumbeena Ward

Hi, I'm Callum.

I’m a young Murrumbeena local working in ecological restoration. I've been fighting for environmental and social justice since I was a teenager. Murrumbeena is my home that I cherish and I want to make it an even better place to live.

I will be a voice for renters, young people and the LGBTIQA+ community. Voices that historically struggle to be heard on council. I will make sure that council decision making is informed by meaningful community engagement.

As your councillor I will advocate for more green spaces, to improve local native biodiversity and create places for people to enjoy their local area. I'm passionate about improving services for Murrumbeena and Carnegie and ensuring Council works for our community. I believe in people powered politics and will act with integrity and transparency - always putting what’s right for our community first. I will fight for affordable housing and sustainable development, and work to ensure our communities thrive.

Together we can create a more inclusive and sustainable Glen Eira. Your vote is powerful.

HOW TO VOTE 1 TO ELECT CALLUM

Callum HTV

My plan for Murrumbeena Ward:

Build a thriving local community: Invest in quality services that care for our communities health and wellbeing, while revitalising our vibrant shopping strips, supporting local arts and culture. I will push to upgrade streetscapes, improve footpaths and increase public funding for events.

Lead local climate action: Glen Eira Council has made good progress reducing its council emissions, but there’s still more to do in council facilities and to help our residents and businesses reduce their emissions and energy costs.

Human-scale, sustainable developments: Support more housing that is affordable and sustainable. Improve public open space and access to more safe bike lanes and public transport in all our neighbourhoods.

Grow active, green neighbourhoods: Keep our neighbourhoods green and liveable by expanding our parks. Support local wildlife and native biodiversity and cool our city by bolstering tree canopy.
