Gambling

Gambling

Gambling costs Victoria billions every year – in financial costs, family breakdowns, losing jobs and mental health impacts.

About ¾ of the losses from poker machines are from at-risk gamblers, and the worst losses are concentrated in our most disadvantaged suburbs.

The Greens want to phase out poker machines and ban gambling advertising, and tax this predatory industry properly in the meantime.

No more pokies

The Greens want tougher rules on pokies now to reduce harm, and ultimately for pokies to be phased out of pubs and clubs in our communities.

Ban gambling advertising

Like tobacco, gambling ads don’t belong on billboards, buses or broadcasts – or your kid’s socials feeds. The Greens are committed to banning gambling advertising across the country.

Make the gambling industry pay

The Greens will increase taxes on gambling, to pay for the things we all need like public and affordable homes, abundant renewable energy and free public transport.
