Angel is a proud Ballardong Noongar young person who is a youth leader at the Edmund Rice Centre WA. This work aims to highlight Angel's and other young first nations people’s bold vision towards achieving a brighter and cleaner future. It is a vision emboldened by the continued fight of Aboriginal people to be heard and their understanding of country to be implemented into governmental policies and legislation to protect, conserve and restore Australia’s ecosystems.
About the artists
Kambarni (Kamsani Bin Salleh) is a Perth-based artist and illustrator descended from the Ballardong Noongar people of the South West and the Nimunburr and Yawuru people of the Kimberley. He believes in the importance of cultural preservation and expression while also challenging the notion of culture being trapped in the past. His artworks reflect an appreciation for the natural world emerging from both a cultural and biological fascination, often stylistically modernising ancient stories as well as attempting to re-contextualise Eurocentric works from an Indigenous perspective.
Hope is a muralist based in Margaret River. His work focuses on attitudes towards marginalised groups of people in our community, people who contribute enormously to a deep, loving and rich society that offer us their unique perspectives, history and culture. He hopes to tell his and other peoples stories through his art to inspire real change in our communities.
