Kitty Hemsley

Candidate for Curtin

Hi, I'm Kitty, your Greens candidate for Curtin this federal election.

I have lived in Curtin for many years and love our community. I spend my weekends at the local farmers market and with Friends of Galup to help revitalise Galup/Lake Monger through our efforts in weeding, planting and rubbish collection.

The two key issues that led me to becoming a candidate were the gutting of the NDIS and Australia's weak response to the genocide in Gaza.

I work in the disability sector as a speech pathologist. Everyday, I see how my clients and their families are struggling to put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads, all while dealing with an NDIS system that seems designed to strip people of their dignity and remove vital supports.

As a healthcare worker, I feel a humanitarian duty to help those in need. I cannot sit idly by while our government is not only silent, but complicit in an active genocide in Gaza.

Seeing everything that is happening in the world, it is easy to let ourselves fall into despair – I feel the grief and the fear. I use those feelings to fuel my actions, to drive me to fight for everyone around me.

Join me in fighting for a fairer world.
