STOP THE CORRUPTION COVER-UP
Australia's National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) was meant to clean up politics.
Instead, it's become a toothless tiger that lets corrupt politicians and bureaucrats hide behind closed doors.
We deserve better.
That's why we are calling on the Albanese government to:
- Make hearings public by default. If NSW ICAC can do 100% of corruption hearings in public, so can the NACC. End the secrecy.
- Fix the conflicts of interest. No more military commissioners investigating military corruption. No more jobs for the boys.
- Give it real teeth. The NACC needs independent funding and independent oversight, it can’t hide behind government ministers.
The problems with the NACC are real.
The NACC has conducted 40 investigations with zero public hearings. Even when it makes corruption findings it refuses to release names.
That's not transparency. That’s a cover-up.
Meanwhile, the NACC Commissioner has kept his military rank and attends Defence functions, while investigating Defence corruption. It’s an impossible conflict of interest at the head of the agency.
Labor and the Coalition designed this agency to protect themselves, not expose corruption. That’s a massive failure and a fundamental breach of faith with the public.
