See a GP for Free

TACKLE THE COST OF LIVING

Let's tax big corporations to fund the things we all need – like making it free to see a GP, dentist, nurse or psychologist when you need it.

By signing this, you will hear from us about our economic fairness and health campaigns from time to time.

It’s getting harder to find a bulk billing clinic in Australia.

The average out of pocket cost to see a GP is now over $40. That’s on top of skyrocketing rents, groceries, petrol and other bills.

It’s no wonder that more than a million Australians delay or forego GP appointments each year due to cost.

It's a disgrace that people are being forced to choose between going to the doctor and affording food or medication for the week.

Big corporations are making billions in profit during this cost of living crisis.

So the Greens will make them pay their fair share of tax, so we can:

  • Support a return to bulk-billed GP appointments, by tripling the bulk-billing incentive for all people with a Medicare card.
  • Establish 1,000 free healthcare clinics, allowing people to access a GP, dentist, registered nurse or psychologist with no out-of-pocket costs.
  • Support our trainee GP workforce by paying them equally to their hospital trainee counterparts

Did you know? 74% of people agree that the government should ensure everyone can visit the GP for free.

But the major parties will only ever tinker around the edges of this cost of living crisis.

While Labor and the Liberals work for big corporations, the Greens are fighting for you.

That’s why we’ll ensure everyone has what they need to live a good life – including being able to see their local GP when they need it.
